For more than 30 years, the American Library Association has promoted reading by producing posters featuring celebrities with their favorite books—the famous READ posters. Starting in 1995 and again in 2001 and 2006, the Port Jefferson Free Library created READ posters featuring our own celebrities--our patrons. During the month of April, the Library will celebrate National Library Week and “Long Island Reads” by again taking photos of our patrons, but this year we are “going green” and producing digital posters to be displayed on a flat screen TV near the Circulation Desk.
If you would like to have your photo taken with your favorite book, please come to the library from April 9-19 between the hours of 1:00-4:00 PM. Please call the library if you need an evening appointment. Printed copies of this digital poster will be available for a small fee. This fun event is open to all PJFL cardholders.
A reception for all participants will be held on Sunday, April 22, at 2:00 PM in the meeting room. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.
