Habitat For Humanity Merges Long Island Offices

RONKONKOMA, NY — The separate Habitat for Humanity entities in Nassau and Suffolk counties have merged into the Habitat for Humanity of Long Island.

"We now are one affiliate serving the community from the Nassau/Queens border all the way out to the two tips of the island," Lee Silberman, Habitat for Humanity of Long Island CEO, said on Tuesday's "Patch AM."

He said bringing the organization under one roof across Long Island means "we can speak with one voice as an advocate for affordable housing and affordable home ownership," he said.

Silberman also thinks the change will be more attractive to corporate donors.

But at the heart of the merger, Long Islanders, who are in need of housing.

"[It] allows us to take the resources and allocate them, hopefully, where they can do the most good."
