• Mather Hospital rallies community in the fight against breast cancer (tbrnewsmedia.com) — This October, Mather Hospital's Paint Port Pink campaign will light up Port Jefferson and Port Jefferson Station with pink displays, health seminars, contests, and a women's EmpowerHER event to promote breast cancer awareness. Local residents can join screenings, decorate windows and pumpkins, and participate in Wear Pink Day while learning about early detection and mammography guidelines. The Fortunato Breast Health Center also outlines key warning signs and offers support services for those facing a diagnosis. 
• Suffolk County Executive Romaine Announces Lawrence Aviation Closing with MTA (longisland.com) — Suffolk County has finalized the sale of about 40 acres of the long-troubled Lawrence Aviation Superfund site in Port Jefferson Station to the MTA, paving the way for upgrades to the LIRR's Port Jefferson Branch. Another 40-acre parcel is slated for community solar development, turning decades of contamination and blight into transportation improvements and renewable energy benefits for local residents. Officials say the closings cap years of cleanup and legal work.
