• Porters suffer tough loss in return to varsity football (timesreview.com) — Port Jefferson football's season cancellation is reshaping schedules across Suffolk County, giving Greenport/Southold/Mattituck an unusual second shot at Hampton Bays and open dates once slated for Port Jefferson and Amityville. The Porters dropped their varsity return 39-6 but showed second-half improvement and now look ahead to a Sept. 11 home opener and filling those vacant September and October slots.
