Police: Shirley Man Charged With DWI in Crash That Kills Passenger
Fatal crash occurred in Brentwood Saturday morning, police say.

A Brentwood man is dead and a Shirley man faces a DWI charge following a Saturday morning crash in Brentwood, police said.
According to police, Oscar Rivera, 27, was driving a 2000 Lincoln south on Grand Boulevard when he crossed over Noble Street, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree in front of 250 Grand Boulevard at about 5:50 a.m.
The passenger in the vehicle, David N. Gonzalez, 29, was transported by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Rivera was also transported to Southside with serious injuries, police said.
Vehicular Crime Unit detectives charged Rivera with DWI. He is scheduled for arraignment at a later date.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Vehicular Crime Unit detectives at 631-854-6555.
