Port Jeff Middle's Mayu Takeuchi Earns Perfect Score on National Math Exam
Mayu among an elite few in the nation to earn a perfect score.

Port Jefferson Middle School eighth-grader Mayu Takeuchi has earned a perfect score on the 2014 American Mathematics Contest – AMC 8, which she took in November.
The score, said her teacher Matt Garofola, is an outstanding accomplishment. Only 214 students in the United States from more than 130,000 participants earned a perfect score.
Takeuchi, who is enrolled in two high school math courses, Geometry and Algebra II/Trigonometry, was thrilled with her score, especially since this was the last opportunity for her to participate in the contest.
