Port Jeff Student Named Rensselaer Medal Winner

Congrats to Annalisa Welinder!

PORT JEFFERSON, NY - From Port Jefferson School District: Earl L. Vandermeulen High School student Annalisa Welinder has been named a Rensselaer Medal winner for her excellence in math and science. She was nominated for the award by the school’s science teacher, Michel Krivosta, who retired in June after 40 years of teaching in Port Jefferson.

The merit scholarship has a value of $100,000, guaranteed for four years of study at the institution, determined by her application and ultimate acceptance. Its goal is to motivate the next generation of leaders, scientists, innovators, scholars and humanitarians, among others.

A senior, Annalisa’s favorite subject in high school is math and her varied interests include being a member of the Mathletes and the Academic Team.
