In collaboration, the Port Jefferson Country Club has been helping teach students the fundamentals.

Press Release From Port Jefferson School District: Students in the Port Jefferson School District have been learning the fundamentals of golf in a collaborative effort with the Port Jefferson Country Club. Assistant golf professional Jake Anderson, PGA, has been working with Edna Louise Spear Elementary School physical education teachers to provide skills including grip, stance, swing and strategies of the game. Once Anderson completes the two-week program with the younger students, he will work with the middle school and high school students in a six-day program.
“The Port Jefferson Country Club is such a great resource for our community and our students,” Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics Adam Sherrard said. “We appreciate Mr. Anderson for donating his time to help teach our students a sport such as golf to help them maintain lifelong fitness.”
