Four Earl L. Vandermeulen High School students have earned academic excellence awards as part of the Town of Brookhaven’s eighth annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration.

The students, Omaris Adames Pena, Santiago Burgos-Fallon, Justin Garcia and Ana Oliva, were recognized at a ceremony on Oct. 1 at Brookhaven Town Hall for earning grade point averages of 97, 96, 99 and 95, respectively. In college, Omaris looks forward to majoring in fine arts, Santiago in computer science, Justin in mechanical engineering and Ana in business.
Hosted by Brookhaven’s Hispanic Advisory Board, the students were among 150 seniors from 15 school districts throughout Brookhaven who were lauded for achieving a grade point average of 95 or higher.
