A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing Port Jefferson man who police say may be suicidal.

Daniel Schechter, 47, was last seen at his house at 105 Cooper Court Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., police said. He left in a black 2013 Ford Explorer with New York license plates bearing the number GFF 4095.
His AT&T cell phone was turned off in the area of Woodstock, N.Y. Tuesday at 12:01 p.m.

He is described as 5-foot-11, 195 pounds and has brown eyes and short gray hair. He was wearing black shoes, black slacks and a light green dress shirt.
