Whiz Kid: Michael D'Agati
Michael will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall as a University Scholar.
Name: Michael D’Agati, age 17

Accomplishments: On the High Honor Roll for all 16 quarters of his high school career, Michael challenged himself with eight Advanced Placement (A.P.) courses and was the recipient of the College Board’s A.P. Scholar with Honor Award. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society.
Michael played the violin and the piano in the school’s orchestra and performed in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) competitons on both instruments. He played the violin in the pit orchestra for his high school’s drama productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Into the Woods.
A three-sport varsity athlete, Michael was a forward on the soccer team for three years, receiving the All-Conference Award both his junior and senior years. He was selected as a member of the Suffolk County Exceptional Seniors Soccer team. On the basketball team, he was a guard for his three varsity years, earning the Suffolk County Academic All-County Basketball Award as well as the Miller Place Defensive MVP Award his senior year. Michael was a four year varsity tennis player, and team captain for two years. He was the recipient of the All-Division Doubles Tennis Award and the All-League Singles Tennis Award.
Michael has spent a lot of his time at Stony Brook University. In the summer of 2012 he attended the Summer Engineering program for high school students and was selected to participate in the Simons Summer Research Fellowship Program in 2013. This summer he received an adjunct appointment as an affiliate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering doing research.
Michael was a recipient of the ASSET Scholarship, Project Lead the Way Scholarship, International Association of Approved Basketball Officials #40 Scholarship and the Stony Brook University Presidential Scholarship. He will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall as a University Scholar, majoring in electrical engineering.
