3 People Robbed Sunglasses Store In Manhasset: Police

Someone shoved two security guards as the trio was leaving with the stole shades, police say.

MANHASSET, NY — Three people robbed a sunglasses store in Manhasset on Thursday, Nassau police said.

A trio, dressed in dark clothing, entered the Optical Shop of Aspen, at 2038 Northern Boulevard, around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. They went to the back of the store and put numerous sunglasses in a bag, police said.

As store employee contacted security and police, one person stayed at the front of the store and then went outside to a sedan, police said. A second person was leaving the store when security arrived and also entered the car, police said. The man carrying the bag of stolen sunglasses was trying to leave the store when he was approached by security, and then, with both arms, shoved the two guards and got into the car, police said.

All three people drove away in a silver four-door sedan with an undetermined amount of stolen sunglasses, police said. No injuries were reported, police said.

Detectives asked anyone with information on the robbery to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or to call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
