4 Tried To Break Into Roslyn Heights Home: Police

They entered the backyard after trying to open a vehicle as the homeowner was awoken by the Ring app, police say.

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY — Four people tried to break into a Roslyn Heights home and the vehicle parked in front of it early Friday, Nassau police said.

A Field Lane homeowner was awoken by her Ring camera app when it detected movement in her driveway just after 4 a.m., police said. The woman noticed there were four people in the back of her home, so she began to bang on her bedroom window to alert the four, police said. They drove away northbound on Field Lane toward Club Drive in a black SUV, police said.

Detectives said the four walked up to a 2020 white Mercedes truck that was parked in front the home and checked the vehicle’s door handles in attempt to break into it. When they realized the vehicle was locked, they entered the backyard and tried to gain entry through the back doors, police said. The four could not get into any vehicle or the home, and nothing was stolen, police said. Police are looking for the four.
