5 to Be Honored for 'Heroic Acts' After Manorhaven Boat Explosion
County, state and local leaders will honor the five on Wednesday at Manorhaven Village Hall for their 'selfless bravery,' officials said.

Government officials will be honoring five men on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Manorhaven Village Hall for their “heroic acts” after the fatal boat explosion on Aug. 20 at the Manorhaven Marina, officials said.
The devastating explosion and subsequent fire claimed the life of retired Retired NYPD Captain Bob Hogan, a friend to many in Port Washington, who was at the dock to refuel.
“It was only because of the selfless bravery of a number of individuals who ran into the fire and dove into the water to save victims, that the explosion did not claim more lives and millions of dollars in property and vessel damage,” according to a Village of Manorhaven news release.
