After Coronavirus Spike, Superintendent Urges Vigilance

The Port Washington Schools Superintendent is urging the community to continue to adhere to public health and safety guidelines.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY – The Port Washington Schools Superintendent is urging the community to continue to adhere to public health and safety guidelines in light of a recent uptick in coronavirus cases in the district.

In a letter to parents Thursday, Superintendent Michael Hynes highlighted the school district's policy on illnesses. When a child exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, including runny nose, sore throat and headache, parents are required to keep their sick children home.

In order for sick children to be permitted to return to school, the parent must provide proof from the healthcare provider that the symptoms are not COVID-19.
