The Art Guild's Reception for Nassau County High School Artist Exhibit

Please join The Art Guild, Sunday November 1 from 3-5pm, as they welcome High School students from across Nassau County

The Art Guild invites everyone to the Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony for the annual “Nassau County High School Student Juried Art Competition and Exhibition” on Sunday November 1 from 3 - 5 pm.

Thirty-five high school students in grades 9 - 12, from 13 public and private schools throughout Nassau County, will exhibit 53 works in a professional gallery setting at Historic Elderfields Preserve. Students will receive cash prizes for first, second and third place as well as gift certificates for honorable mention. The show will be on view from Saturday, October 31 through Sunday, November 29. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 - 5 pm or by appointment.

The Juror-of-Awards for the show is artist Bennett Horowitz. Mr. Horowitz taught studio and art history at the High School of Art & Design in Manhattan for seven years, recently retiring to devote himself full-time to fine arts painting. Mr. Horowitz is now primarily focused on developing his own Expressionist style of landscape painting. He has also done a great deal of portrait/narrative figure painting. Mr. Horowitz received his BFA from Pratt Institute and his MFA from the California College of the Arts in Oakland, with additional training in graphic design, typography and computer graphics at the School of Visual Arts. He has worked professionally as an illustrator and magazine designer. Mr. Horowitz has been a fellow at the MacDowell Colony; his artwork has been exhibited at the Queens Museum and the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island, as well as numerous other solo and group shows.
