'Be The Best Sport' Athletes Honored

The organization focuses on the athletic development of special needs children in North Hempstead and Queens.

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio recognized “Be the Best Sport” of Port Washington at Tuesday's Town Board meeting for capturing the gold medal at the Long Island Special Olympics’ annual basketball tournament.

All team members were presented with certificates of recognition for their outstanding achievement. The team featured players from Port Washington, Manhasset, Roslyn, Great Neck and Queens, won their initial qualifying round to get into the B Division, and then won three consecutive games to earn gold.

“Be the Best Sport” is an organization that focuses on the athletic development of special needs children in the local area.
