Best Private Schools on Long Island

New York has some of the top private schools in the nation, but none of them are on Long Island, according to Niche.com's recently released 2017 Best Private High Schools in America.

In fact, not one Long Island private school cracked the top 100 in Niche.com's national rankings. The highest-ranking Long Island school was The Stony Brook School, which came in at No. 121 in America.

Private schools outside of Long Island, however, were ranked among the best. Horace Mann School in the Bronx was ranked No. 1 in New York and No. 6 nationally. Trinity School in New York City was ranked No. 2 in New York and No. 11 nationally.

Out of New York’s top 100 private schools ranked by Niche.com, 13 Long Island schools made the list. None of them cracked the top 10, but three made it in the top 50. For the full list of the top 100 private high schools in New York, go here.

The rankings are "based on rigorous analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users," according to Niche.com. (Still skeptical? You can pick apart the site's full methodology here.)
