Concert to Pay Tribute to Swing Era Classics in Sunset Park

The SWINGTIME BIG BAND will pay tribute to legendary artists of the past century at its eighth annual concert in Port Washington next week.

The band, led by Steve Shaiman, will perform hits from Frank Sinatra and composer Jerry Gray in a new program called “Double Centennial: Frankly Inspired / Shades of Gray.”

The twenty-piece band will salute these two artists with Swing Era classics and standards from the Great American Songbook.

The band hits the stage at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, June 26 at the Sousa Band Shell in Sunset Park.

Swingtime’s summer program includes music from Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Count Basie, Billie Holiday and Billy Strayhorn.

The performance will also feature a patriotic tribute to the men and women of the US Armed Forces, past and present.
