A Concert in Perfect Harmony
That moment when a performer, a venue and a foundation join forces.

The performer is the nationally-known A Cappella sensation, VoicePlay. The venue is Port Washington's own Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark. The Foundation is the Ed. Foundation.
The result is an opportunity for the 15 members of Schreiber High School's A Cappella Choir, under the direction of Matthew Gawronski, to open for the professionals at this Saturday night's concert. But don't expect the Choir to be too starstruck - they're in high demand these days, and come to Landmark fresh from singing the National Anthem at CitiField last Saturday night.
The Schreiber A Cappella Choir - and its counterpart at Weber Middle School - are underwritten by Port Washington's Ed. Foundation through a targeted donation by local residents Robin & Vernon McDermott. This exciting program gives students at both schools the opportunity to explore the vocal aspects of a cappella music and the process of arranging and composing in this style. Students learn vocal fundamentals that are helpful to the choir and musical theater programs, and the a cappella groups are featured at school and community performances.

Landmark on Main Street, home of the Jeanne Rimsky Theater, is our community's center for the performing arts. The theater presents a wide variety of nationally known performing artists throughout its 40-show season, along with free community programming. Also the recipient of an Ed. Foundation grant for its longstanding artist-in-residence program in Port's schools, Landmark prides itself on bringing the performing arts to the community and the community to the performing arts.
"We're always looking for ways to connect Port's students with the performing arts," says Landmark's Executive Director Laura Mogul. "So when we needed an opening act for VoicePlay, we looked to our own school district to provide it. We had the Schreiber group submit an audition tape for the headliners' approval, and the connection was made."

The Schreiber A Cappella set will be followed by a full performance by VoicePlay. Known for their mash-ups and medleys of everything from classical music to 80's cartoon themes, VoicePlay is a concert for the whole family.
This is not the first time this year that Port's students have figured in a professional concert at Landmark. In January, cast members from the 2017 Port Summer Show sang backup for two numbers at Landmark's Broadway on Main concert produced by Stephen deAngelis.
Tickets for Saturday night's VoicePlay/Schreiber A Cappella concert are $28 - $38 through Landmark's Box Office at 516.767.6444, online or at the door. Showtime is 8 PM; doors open at 7:15. Don't miss it!
