Michael Hynes Named Port Washington Superintendent
Hynes will assume the position from Dr. Kathleen Mooney starting July 15.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY--Michael Hynes has been appointed as the new superintendent of the Port Washington School District, the board of education announced on Thursday. Hynes will start on July 15, replacing Kathleen Mooney, who is retiring.
Hynes spent five years as superintendent of the Patchogue-Medford School District before taking the Port Washington job. He was selected following a five-month long search process.
"We believe Dr. Hynes is a perfect fit for our district," the board of education's letter read. "His commitment to an educational philosophy built around educating the whole child and his reputation for community engagement will build and expand upon the wonderful foundation established by Dr. Kathleen Mooney."
