Flexible-format stores are becoming more common in densely populated suburban markets. Many flexible-format Targets recently opened, or will open in the New York area, including:
- Tribeca— opened October 2016
- Freeport— opened October 2016
- Elmont— opened November 2016
- Brooklyn City Point— opened Jan. 25, 2017
- East Village— projected to open summer 2018
- Hell’s Kitchen— projected to open in 2019
Port Washington’s 48,000- square-foot Target store will provide a quick-trip shopping experience for residents, the company says. But the question is, do flexible-format Target stores also have the “Target Effect,” which, according to Urban Dictionary, means, “The result of going into a store, intending to buy a few things, and leaving with much more.”
Looks like residents will find out this fall.
