Free Brass Concert in Port Washington This Month

The concert will feature performances from local Port Washington residents.

Don Winston & Friends Brass Recital No. 4 is holding a free concert in Port Washington in June.

The performance will be held at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, located at 12 Franklin Ave., at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

The concert will feature special guest performances as well as performances from local residents from Port Washington and across Long Island.

Local performers include Don Winston and George Martin of Port Washington, Susan and Jorge Lopez of Whitestone Queens, Lukas Gruber of Smithtown, Kevin Weibley of North Bellmore, and Kate Christian of Farmingdale.

Demondrae Thurman—Euphonium

  • One of the top euphonium soloists in the country, Demondrae has appeared at all 4 editions of Don Winston & Friends. Demondrae will be making his first appearance with the New York Philharmonic during the weeks of June 13 and June 20, 2016.

Derek Fenstermacher—Tuba

  • Derek is the Principal Tuba with the New Jersey Symphony and the Albany Symphony.
  • Alaina Alster, Trombone- Alaina, an East Meadow native, performs with the USMA Band at West Point, one of the premier military bands in the USA.

Keith Kile—Tuba

  • Keith also performs with the USMA Band at West Point

Burt Mason—Trombone

  • Burt is a native of Central Islip, a former Trombone Soloist with with New York Staff Band of the Salvation Army, and has recently performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Utah Symphony to name a few.

Eri Miyashita—Piano

  • Eri has been the piano collaborator for all editions of DW & Friends, and she performs in a wide variety of venues.
