HEARTS Announces Grant Registration for 2016
HEARTS is thrilled to announce that the grant registration for 2016 is now open. HEARTS (Helping Enrich the Arts in Port Washington) provides the opportunity for interested parties to apply for funding to create new, as well as support existing, visual and performing arts initiatives in the Port Washington School District. PWSD teachers and administrators, as well as outside parties that partner with teachers and administrators, scan submit creative proposals for funding to create new visual and performing arts initiatives in the Port Washington School District, as well as to add value to programs already in existence. HEARTS encourages detailed, collaborative proposals across all art forms and grade levels with the goal to reach as many students as possible. Proposals for the following areas are strongly encouraged: music, theater, dance, sculpture, ceramics, painting and drawing, writing and poetry, photography, film and TV, architecture, interior, fashion and graphic design. In 2015, nearly $40,000 dollars was awarded to 19 different grants that enriched the arts for students at every public school in Port Washington. 2015 grants included the district wide performance of “Night of a 1,000 Strings” at the Tilles Center and “Night of Jazz” performance and workshop with Michael Davis of The Rolling Stone among many other dance, poetry, art and theater initiatives. Since HEARTS’ inception, nearly $200,000 has been awarded to arts programming throughout the district. The deadline for all proposals is October 20th 2015.
