Portfest 2016 will take place on Saturday, May 14th from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, rain or shine on the Schreiber High School Campus at 101 Campus Drive in Port Washington, Long Island.
Bring your blanket, chairs and spend the day enjoying live entertainment which will take place on two outdoor stages. Enjoy exhibits from Port Washington’s leading Community Organizations; enjoy live music, art exhibits, local musicians, dance performances, interactive hands on crafts, and watch performing groups from across the school district! New to Portfest will be the Acoustic Student Art tent featuring acoustic performers and a display of student artwork. The Portfest Art Tent will feature local artist’s work and which will be available for sale with 50% of the proceeds going to HEARTS.
The Silent Auction Tent is always one of the most popular exhibits at Portfest. This year there are more experiences, prizes and tickets to events than ever before. Erika Cooper and Elyse Luray are the co-chairs for the Silent Auction. Erika remarked : “Gathering auction items is not terribly hard, it is the follow up after Portfest making sure everyone receives their items and collecting all the money!”

Elise and Erika have a similar background in that they both were involved in the arts in college. “I can speak for Elyse as well to say that we both attended Tulane University and have a deep connection with the city of New Orleans. I just went to my 23rd New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival where I enjoy the music and soul of New Orleans every year, “ stated Erika. Erika’s house showcases the art of many Jazzfest posters as well as other musically oriented art. Erika continued “Doing well in school is one thing, but being involved in music and art can take someone to a whole other level and really round them out as a human being. I want my daughters to grow up in a town where music and art is embraced and encouraged in all aspects of life.”
Here is a partial list of silent auction items that are available at Portfest Saturday May 14th 11:00-5:00. Stop by and tell Elyse and Erika hello! They will be manning the Silent Auction exhibit with their families and they all always have a lot of fun.
