Inspired by Elvis Presley, Bye Bye Birdie takes place in the 1950’s when teen idol superstar Conrad Birdie gets drafted into the army. Birdie’s manager Albert and his secretary Rosie cook up a scheme to have Birdie sing their new hit song and get one last kiss from a lucky teenager fan, Kim on “The Ed Sullivan Show”.

Kim is married to Jon Kaiman and together they have three children, Shaun (20), Jared (16), and Iyana (10). When asked how she does it all, she remarked “Balancing theater, work, and family is like having another child; you don’t think you can handle one more thing to do and then the child is here and your heart explodes!”
The patriarch of Bye Bye Birdie is Harry MacAfee who will be portrayed by Dave Franklin. Harry MacAfee, is star struck when asked to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show with his daughter Kim, who has been chosen to kiss Conrad Birdie on live TV. Dave Franklin is well known as Port Washington’s Police Commissioner. He also makes an appearance as Santa at the Christmas Tree Lighting as well as working on projects such as Holiday on Main, The Teal Pumpkin Project, The Souper Bowl and The Red Stocking Review. How does he balance all of that plus having a family? Dave said “It is not work, it is relaxation and it’s great to work with such creative, wonderful people that become your family.”
