Man Threatens Woman With Gun In Nassau: Police
The man struck a woman and then threatened to get a gun from the car before the woman got into the driver's seat and fled, police say.

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NY — A Wyandanch man was arrested in Roslyn Heights on Monday after Nassau police said he hit a woman and used the threat of a gun.
Derrick Bonds, 49, was traveling with a 55-year-old woman in his blue 2016 Mazda around 6:15 p.m. Monday, police said. Bonds became aggressive after taking a phone call and started yelling at the woman that he was in control and that she was going to do what he told her to do, police said. The woman told Bonds she was not going to do anything he said, so Bonds hit her left cheek and lip, causing pain and a cut, police said.
Bonds yelled he was going to grab his gun from a black bag in the Mazda, police said. He then pulled over on the side of the road and got out of the car to get the gun, police said. The woman jumped into the driver's seat and fled, leaving Bonds on the road, police said.
