Manhasset Secondary School Named School Of Distinction

Manhasset Secondary School athletes were recognized for their academic success off the field.

From Syntax: Manhasset Secondary School is just one of 35 high schools in New York State to earn the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction Award for the 2018-19 school year.

The award is presented to those schools whose varsity teams have all achieved a cumulative GPA of 90% or higher. Manhasset Secondary School fields 32 varsity athletic teams, the second-most among this year’s 35 award winners.

NYSPHSAA established the program to honor those schools that effectively emphasize the importance of academic success with their student-athletes. It also unites varsity coaches in challenging their teams to achieve a statewide honor in addition to the Scholar-Athlete Team Award. Manhasset Secondary School has won the Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction Award six out of the last seven years.
