What better way to celebrate spring’s arrival than a visit to the renovated Mill Pond Park. The promise of warm weather means that soon we can all enjoy the flowering of the recently installed Slade Family Garden, on the eastern end of the pond. With its marsh grasses, brick walkway and natural setting, Mill Pond is the perfect spot to enjoy views of Manhasset Bay, and ideal for sunset lovers.
Mill Pond Park is also the go-to spot for bird watchers. In April, egrets convert the pond into their spring and summer home. And those who enjoy strolling around the pond’s perimeter will have to be mindful of protective geese as these nurture their baby chicks.
Be sure to stop by on a weekend, when the model boat regattas are in full swing. Whether you are out for a fitness walk or want to wile away the time outdoors, Mill Pond Park is a fine destination.
