North Hempstead Officials: Coronavirus Impacting Local Food Banks
North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth wants residents to donate to local food banks.
NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY—The coronavirus is hurting local food banks, according to North Hemstead town leaders. As a result, Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the town board are urging residents to donate, if possible.
“As Americans begin to self-isolate on a larger scale, residents are emptying store
shelves of non-perishables, which in turn is negatively impacting the amount of donations to local food banks,” Supervisor Bosworth said.
For families in need who rely on donations from food pantries and meal programs, town officials are asking residents to non-perishable food items, such as pasta, jarred sauce, canned tuna fish, soup, cereal, etc.
