PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Elementary-schoolers in Manorhaven got quite a treat last week when the head of North Hempstead stopped by to read to them.
Judi Bosworth, the town supervisor, visited Manorhaven Elementary School on Thursday with Town Clerk Wayne Wink to participate in the village's yearly community read aloud. Kids in Ms. Drucker's 5th grade class listened to Bosworth read "Someone Loves You, Mr. Hatch," by Eileen Spinelli. The book is about how small acts of kindness can change peoples' lives.
Wink read "A Beginners Guide to Bear Spotting" by Michelle Robinson to kindergartners in Mrs. Salazar's class. The book is about a young bear spotter who explores bear country.
