Paul D. Schreiber High School Named ‘Recognition School’

Port Washington, N.Y. (July 2019)—Port Washington Union Free School District (PWUFSD) is proud to announce that Paul D. Schreiber High School was designated as a Recognition School—the highest level of honor and recognition for a school in New York State—for the 2017-2018 school year.

“The district is honored to have Paul D. Schreiber High School recognized by the New York State Education Department for its academic performance and growth,” said Dr. Kathleen Mooney, superintendent of the Port Washington Union Free School District. “Congratulations to Dr. Pernick and our team of educators and staff at the high school for their continuous efforts to ensure Port’s students attain greatness both inside and outside the classroom throughout their years in the building.”

The State Education Department presents this award to schools that perform exceptionally well academically and demonstrate growth in proficiency levels over several years under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

“I am proud for Schreiber to be named a Recognition School by New York State. The faculty and staff work diligently to meet the needs of our diverse student population,” said Dr. Ira Pernick, principal of Paul D. Schreiber High School. “Together we monitor and adjust our approach to education in an effort to level the playing field and create opportunities for all our students.”
