Port Washington, N.Y. (July 2019)—Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington was recently named a School of Excellence by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. (NYSPHAA) in recognition of the district’s extraordinary academic and athletic accomplishments.
“The School of Excellence Award exemplifies the time and effort our student athletes put into the classroom as well as the work for their teams,” said Stephanie Joannon, director of health physical education and athletics of Port Washington Union Free School District. “This is an outstanding testament to the time management and organizational skills of our varsity athletes.”
NYSPHAA presents the School of Excellence Award when 75 percent of varsity teams achieve a cumulative grade point average greater than or equal to 90.00 throughout their respective seasons. During the 2018-19 school year, 28 of Schreiber’s varsity teams received Scholar-Athlete status.
