Police: Man Arrested for Burglarizing Area of St. Francis Hospital

The suspect took a master key from the staff lounge and put on scrubs to steal items from a closed area of the hospital, police said.

Authorities arrested a man Wednesday who put on scrubs to steal items from a closed area of St. Francis Hospital on Sunday, police said.

Sean Thomas, 24, was charged with third degree burglary and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Thomas, who has no known address, will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.

Authorities are looking for a man who entered a closed area of St. Francis Hospital, located at 100 Port Washington Blvd. in Flower Hill, and burglarized multiple offices Sunday, police said.

The suspect entered the Cardiac Imaging Area in the hospital’s basement, which is closed on Sundays, and stole an Amazon Kindle and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The man took a master key and identification card from the nurse’s station, went into the staff lounge and changed into hospital scrubs before he committed the burglaries, according to surveillance footage.

The incident occurred between 12:52 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The victims of this burglary noticed their items were missing on Tuesday and subsequently contacted authorities.
