Port’s New Superintendent Shares 100-Day Plan
Dr. Hynes Highlights Roadmap for 2019-2020 School Year
Port Washington, N.Y. (July 2019)—Port Washington School District’s new superintendent, Dr. Michael Hynes, is excited to share his 100-Day Plan heading into the 2019-2020 school year. The plan outlines the specific action steps Dr. Hynes will be taking during his first 100 days as superintendent to ensure a smooth transition and successful start to the 2019-2020 school year.
Dr. Hynes’ approach for the first three months centers around two primary objectives: (1) a comprehensive, districtwide review and (2) relationship building with stakeholders within the community. Dr. Hynes will host meetings with staff members to develop a better understanding of the alignment of actions and daily practices as they relate to district goals and outcomes, as well as foster professional relationships and an understanding of the internal culture of the district. Dr. Hynes’ relationship building with Port Washington’s stakeholders will include one-on-one conversations with small and large group gatherings to understand the successes and concerns that exist within the district. Dr. Hynes hopes to meet with over 300 Port Washington stakeholders including students, parents, staff, and members of Port Washington organizations.
Looking forward, the district will begin to develop a plan of action based on feedback from these meetings with concentrations in the following areas: curriculum and instruction, budget and finance, capital improvements, legislative and political advocacy, technology, public relations and communication.
