Port Washington Attorney Terry Scheiner Honored

A specialist in elder law and guardianship issues, Scheiner is Nassau Bar Association October's Pro Bono Attorney of the Month.

Terry Scheiner, a Port Washington resident, was named October Pro Bono Attorney of the Month.

An attorney who specializes in elder law and guardianship issues, Scheiner works with senior citizens. Since 2001, Scheiner has regularly volunteered her services at the monthly Nassau County Bar Association Senior Citizen Legal Consultation Clinics.

Scheiner began her career as a New York licensed master social worker, but felt she could help her clients more if she also earned a law degree, which she did from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.

She currently serves as vice chairperson of the NCBA Conciliation Committee where she arbitrates fee disputes, is a member of the Nassau County Supreme Court Part 137 fee arbitration panel, and is an active member of the mediation subcommittee of the NCBA Grievance Committee, handling grievances by clients against their attorneys. She is also active in the Community Relations and Public Education and the Elder Law, Social Services and Health Advocacy committees of the NCBA.

Scheiner is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Bar of the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.

She is an active member of Yashar, the Judges’ and Lawyers’ Chapter of Hadassah.
