Port Washington Resident to Receive 2016 Outstanding Dance Educator Award

Congratulation to Anita Feldman, who serves as an associate professor of dance at Hofstra University.

Port Washington resident and associate professor of dance at Hofstra University has been named the recipient of the New York State Dance Education Association’s 2016 Outstanding Dance Educator Award.

Anita Feldman serves as designer and director of Hofstra’s undergraduate Dance Education Program, which is the only program of its kind on Long Island. Many dance educators throughout the state are alumni of the program.

Feldman has helped dance become a bigger part of the Hofstra community and beyond. For instance, AHRC Choreography Workshops, allow volunteer dance education majors to work with adults who have developmental disabilities and help them create an informal performance. Students can also travel to schools through the Dancers in Schools program and share the value of dance through lectures, performances and workshops.
