Voters Approve Port Washington School Budget, Board Members Elected

Residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

Port Washington residents approved a 2017-18 school budget on Tuesday.

The $151,222,964 budget passed by a margin of 2,453 to 624, according to the school district. The budget is a 3.13 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 2.33 percent tax levy increase.

"With this support, the district will continue to provide a full academic and co-curricular program while also addressing staffing needs to accommodate our increasing enrollment," the school district said.

Residents also elected Rachel R. Gilliar and David C. Kerpen to the Port Washington Board of Education.
