PORT WASHINGTON, NY--Port Washington residents approved a 2019-20 school budget on Tuesday.

The $160,556,916 proposed budget was approved by a margin of 2,517-747. The budget is a 2.96 percent increase from the current year's. It's accompanied by a 2.88 percent bump in the tax levy. That is at the district's tax levy cap, so the budget only needed to be approved by a majority vote.

Emily Beys (2,252), an incumbent, was re-elected to the school board. Deborah Abramson Brooks (2,119) was also elected for the first time against two challengers, Jonathan Geisler (745) and Robert Young (550).
