PORT WASHINGTON, NY – Port Washington Schools celebrated Unity Day on Wednesday, as a way to prevent bullying.

For Unity Day, school community members wear orange to promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Organized by the PACER Center, Unity Day encourages participants to wear orange because it provides a visually-compelling expression of unity.

"Whether its hundreds of individuals at a school wearing orange, store owners offering orange products, or a community changing a landmark to orange, the vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, sending the supportive, universal message that bullying is never acceptable behavior," said Paula Goldberg, Executive Director of the PACER Center.
