Season Preview: 2011 Port Washington Softball
Young team looking to win big and make it to post season play.

Port Washington softball graduated 10 seniors from last year’s team. They only returned 47 at bats from last year. With have a new starting first base, second base, short stop, third base, left field and right field this season, they are looking to win big this year despite a young team.
“I expect to compete for a conference title and a playoff spot,” Port Washington coach Eric Sutz said.
With only have two seniors on the team, the team still sees that as a minor setback. “We are super young in age and especially in experience at the varsity level,” said Sutz.

Sara Marinelli – Sophomore and number two pitcher and starting center fielder. She is a dynamic athlete who can track all balls down in the outfield and can cause havoc on the base paths with her fantastic speed.
Janice Havasy- Junior and plays third base. She is an offensive force and has a strong work ethic. She will hit in the middle of the lineup and provide power and RBIs
Jackie Avila - Sophomore catcher.
Expectations: “I want to have a tough, smart and aggressive team who will not back down from anyone and will play hard for 7 innings,” Sutz said.
Key Games:
5/2 vs. Freeport 4:30 PM
5/3 @ Great Neck South 4:45 PM
Coach Sutz says: "We won the season series 2-1 last year against Freeport. They bring back their whole team and will be very good. Great Neck South defeated us 3 times last year all very close games that we felt we could have won."
