
Two weeks into the 2013 high school sports season, Port Washington is looking impressive in football and girls soccer.
The Vikings notched a 32-26 overtime win against Friends Academy Saturday at Locust Valley in football.
Down 14-7 at halftime, Port rallied for a key Nassau Conference V double overtime victory.
According to Newsday, James Burns five-yard touchdown run in the second overtime gave Port Washington the 32-26 win. A missed Friends Academy field goal on their second overtime possession, giving the Vikings the opportunity at the 20-yard line. Port's Mike Gennusa's 10-yard touchdown run with 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter tied the game at 20. A missed extra point sent it to overtime.
Schreiber heads into Saturday's homecoming game against Great Neck South at the top of the conference, tied with Great Neck North and Roslyn at 2-0. See football preview here
In girls soccer last week, Schreiber upped its season record to 3-1-1 with a shutout victory at home against Herricks in conference action.
With a 2-0-1 conference record, Schreiber sits alone at the top of Conference AA-2 just ahead of Great Neck South at 2-1-0.
