Sunday at Sands Point Preserve - Mind, Body & Soul and Dance Visions NY

Focus on healthy living and enjoy a dance performance that honors the works of Isadora Duncan. Also this weekend: mansion tours.

This weekend at Sands Point Preserve brings a workshop on healthy living and also a dance performance that honors the works of legendary choreographer Isadora Duncan.

Mind, Body & Soul is set for Sunday, July 10, from 10-11 a.m. This hands-on workshop looks at the meaning behind nourishing the mind, body and soul. Families will discover practical, easy-to-implement techniques. Health counselor Sara Siskind unlocks the secrets of healthy living. Early childhood educator Lisa Cusano introduces ways to increase confidence and body-awareness through yoga. And meditation coach Macha Einbender leads a craft activity that offers calming techniques. Admission is free for members; $10 per car for non-members and includes parking.

Also on Sunday from 3-5 p.m., catch a performance of Dance Visions NY inside Hempstead House and outside in the Rose Garden. Under the direction of Beth Jucovy, Dance Visions NY honors the legendary choreographer Isadora Duncan's dances, aesthetics, and techniques, which were created in the very same era that the Guggenheim Estate was established. The company of 10 dancers performs a combination of Duncan's works as well as site-specific contemporary works. Admission, which includes parking, is $10 per person for members; $20 per person for non-members.

Mansion Tours are also available. Enjoy a guided tour of the interiors of two of the mansions on the former Guggenheim estate: Hempstead House and Falaise. See the grand rooms inside Tudor-style Hempstead House, the former summer residence of Howard Gould (1912-1917) and later Daniel and Florence Guggenheim (1917-1930). Tours are available Saturday, (7/9/16). Explore the artwork, antiques, and furnishings inside Falaise, the former residence of Captain Harry F. Guggenheim (1923-1971), Thursdays -Sundays at 12, 1, 2, and 3 p.m. Tour tickets are $10 per person. Children under 12 are not allowed on tours of Falaise. Upcoming events at the Preserve include Composer’s Night featuring the Bobby Katz Quintet on Thursday, July 16, at 8 p.m. The Exploration Hike for ages 16 and up is Saturday, July 23, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. The Picture Perfect! Educational Beach Walk is Sunday, July 24, from 10-11 a.m. And the North Shore Music Festival presents “Madama Butterfly” on Saturday, July 30, from 6-10 p.m.
