The inspiration for the endeavor first came to Eric Forman and his son Dylan while watching last year’s Super Bowl and enjoying the commercials. They decided to dream big by entering the 2015 Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest. Their original idea: a humorous look at what happens when a youth baseball team gets extra help from their secret weapon – Doritos.

Forman pitched the idea to his friend and fellow baseball dad Matt Harris, who has filmed commercials his entire career. Harris and his son Isaac signed on immediately, and with everyone on board, they brought the concept to life.

“We entered the contest because the boys love baseball and thought this would be a great opportunity to teach them a lesson about pursuing their dreams,” Matt Harris said.

With Forman producing and Harris directing and editing, the boys recruited a bunch of their friends along with the help of their parents, families, and local businesses, including Arena Sports and Harbor Deli, to make their dream a reality. Also lending support was Al Martin, a local umpire, making his acting debut.

Harris said the project was a labor of love, and shot on a shoestring budget. To add to their effort, and make it even more of a family effort, Harris’ daughters assisted with wardrobe.

And while winning may be a million-to-one shot, the boys certainly got the the opportunity to learn all about working together while having fun and giving back.
