2 Charged In Death Of Man Found Tied Up In Brooklyn Apartment: PD

A man and a woman face murder and robbery charges in the death of Malcolm Holder, who was found strangled in his Crown Heights apartment.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A man and a woman have been charged in the death of a man who was found tied up and strangled in his Crown Heights apartment last week, according to police.

Police found 46-year-old Malcolm Holder tied up and face down on the living room floor of his apartment on St. Marks Avenue on Friday morning.

They announced Monday that Amanda Sylvester, 35, and Sean Idlet, 49, were arrested and charged with murder, robbery and burglary for the killing.

Holder was strangled in what police believe was a robbery gone bad, cops told the Daily News.

Sylvester, who lives in Prospect Heights, and Idlet, who lives in Crown Heights, did not seem familiar to Holder's family, who had said earlier they believed he knew his attackers given that there was no forced entry into the apartment, the News reported.

Holder, whose family came to New York from Guyana when he was a teenager, had worked at Home Depot. He suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was 2 years old and had a caretaker who checked in on him twice a week. The caretaker was the one who found him Friday, according to the outlet.
