2 Cops Shot, 1 Stabbed In Neck During Brooklyn Attack: NYPD
A man "casually" walked up to officers at Church and Flatbush before stabbing one in the neck, setting off a violent encounter, NYPD said.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — An attacker stabbed and shot at NYPD officers in a violent chain of events late Wednesday in Brooklyn that ultimately sent three cops to the hospital, authorities said.
The incident unfolded at Church and Flatbush avenues, where two officers were posted to deter looting, said NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea in a statement.
Video surveillance shows a man walk up to the officers "casually" and "without warning" take out a knife and stab one officer in the neck, Shea said.

"That officer was stabbed in the left side of his neck, thank God missing an artery, and is recovering here in stable condition at the hospital," Shea said.
Police officers about a block away heard shots fired from Church and Flatbush, Shea said. They rushed over and saw the man with a gun in his hand, which authorities believed he grabbed from one of the officers, he said.

The officers and the suspect apparently shot at each other.
"What we know at this point in time, is that 22 shell casings have been recovered from a number of members of the service," he said. "We know that we had a chaotic scene with a knife recovered as well."
Shea said two officers were shot in the hand and the man was shot multiple times. He was in critical condition early Thursday at Kings County Hospital, where three injured police officers were treated as well.
All the officers were in stable condition and expected to recover, Shea said.
The incident unfolded as another day and night of protests over the killing of George Floyd gripped Brooklyn and the city. None of the protests occurred near the scene.
Mayor Bill de Blasio visited the wounded officers in the hospital.
"This is a painful time. No question," he wrote on Twitter. "We have to find a way to come together and move forward."
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said during a news conference that the attack is "intolerable." Police are doing an impossible job dealing with protesters, trying to stop looting and trying to keep themselves safe, he said.
"There is no tolerance for violence against a police officer, period," he said.
