29-Year-Old Found Shot Dead Near Grand Army Plaza: Cops
Police found the man with gunshot wounds in front of a building on Butler Place. It's the second shooting in Prospect Heights in 24 hours.
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A 29-year-old man was killed in a midnight shooting near Grand Army Plaza on Thursday, police said.
Police found the 29-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso around 12:19 a.m. in front of a building on Butler Place, just steps away from Plaza Street East.
The man was taken to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting is the second in Prospect Heights in just 24 hours.
On Wednesday, police found a 28-year-old shot and killed on Saint Marks Place after a shooting around 1:22 a.m.

Both killings come as the borough and city face a spike in gun violence.
In the 77th Precinct, which covers Crown Heights and Prospect Heights, there have been 36 shootings so far this year, compared to just 16 during the same time period last year. They are part of a nearly 100 percent increase in shootings across northern Brooklyn, according to NYPD data.
The shootings this week are among the first in the western Prospect Heights section of the police precinct.
