Brooklyn Museum Partners With Netflix For Costume Exhibit

Costumes from "The Crown" and "The Queen's Gambit" are on display in a virtual exhibit by the Brooklyn Museum.

BROOKLYN, NY — Fans of "The Crown" or Netflix's miniseries "The Queen's Gambit" have a new way to enjoy their favorite shows.

The Brooklyn Museum has partnered with Netflix on a new virtual exhibit that explores the costumes from the two shows, which both have premieres this fall.

The exhibit, dubbed "The Queen and The Crown," reveals interactive 360-degree views of costumes from both of the series within a virtual version of the Museum's Beaux-Arts Court.

It kicked off Oct. 30 and will run through Dec. 13 to celebrate The Crown's upcoming fourth season, set to premiere Nov. 15, and launch of The Queen's Gambit on Netflix in October.

For the Queen's Gambit portion of the exhibit, the costumes include those worn by fictional 1960s chess champion Elizabeth "Beth" Harmon, who's is the main character in the new series. The costumes were designed by Gabriele Binder.

For the Crown exhibits, looks are designed by Emmy-winning costume designer Amy Roberts and include those inspired by Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret, Princess Diana, and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Works from the Museum collection were selected by Matthew Yokobosky, the museum's senior curator for fashion and material culture. The exhibit also includes a virtual panel discussion with Binder, Roberts, and Yokobosky, which is moderated by Academy Award–winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter.
