“Workt by Hand”: Hidden Labor and Historical Quilts is an exhibition of some thirty-five exceptional American and European quilt masterpieces that span two centuries of quilt making. The exhibition examines the impact of feminist scholarship on the ways in which historical quilts have been and are currently viewed, contextualized, and interpreted. It also explores the social history aspect of quilting; the role of feminism in the popular medium of quilting and the merits of quilts as art.
