Brooklyn Woman Hurt After Bullet Comes Through Her Ceiling: Cops

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A woman was rushed to the hospital early Monday morning after a bullet came through her apartment ceiling and hit her in the leg, police said.

The 30-year-old woman was in her bedroom in an apartment on Underhill Avenue just before 1 a.m. when the bullet came through the ceiling, police confirmed to Patch.

Emergency responders found the woman with a gunshot wound to her leg in the first-floor apartment, which sits between St. Johns and Sterling place. She was rushed to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in stable condition, police said.

There were no arrests as of Monday afternoon, though according to ABC7, four people from the second-floor apartment where the gun as fired were taken into custody.

The shooting is only the fourth in Prospect Heights this year, an increase from last year but a an anomaly given the ongoing shooting surge in the rest of the borough, according to NYPD data. There have been at least 48 shootings in neighboring Crown Heights during the same period of time, data shows.
